It is one of the oldest earrings in our Mapuche Silverware. Originally they were rectangular and discoidal in shape, large in size. Used by Mapuche women for ceremonial use. They date from the 12th century, pre-Hispanic era, and their first findings were made of copper. Currently they are made more elongated and trapezoidal.
These jewels were linked to their owner, with openwork and chiselling related to their life and territory, according to their place of origin.
